Smp
Introducing SMP
SMP is short for scalp micropigmentation. It is a tattoo treatment for the scalp and has been proven to be the most cost-effective treatment for hair loss that offers clients realistic expectations and long-lasting results.
Thousands of people worldwide have succumbed to hair loss treatments and remedies that have cost them dearly—both financially and emotionally. In our studio we are accustomed to seeing disfiguring scalp scarring from failed transplantation treatments. Clients come to us often exasperated by all the time, money and effort spent trying to address their hair loss.
The skin is the largest organ of the body. It is home to about 5 million hair follicles. Throughout the modern world most of us work to rid ourselves of hair in unwanted areas while idealizing the hair on the head—both multi-billion-dollar industries. When the hair of the head begins to thin and/or fall out, the trauma to the sufferer can be substantial.
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) cannot give you your hair back. However, what it does do is create the appearance of hair follicles on the scalp. For patches of hair loss, SMP builds density so the scalp beneath the thinning areas is less visible or not visible at all. For full baldness, an entire head of tattooed hair follicles is created so the client looks as though they have voluntarily opted to shave their head. As the shaved head look has been made popular by several high-profile personalities over many decades, it is now a fashion statement for both men and women.
How can it
Help you?
Clients may opt for a tidy “just-shaved” look, or request some slight volume, as in the appearance of stubble, better known as a “5 o-clock shadow”. A natural hairline in keeping with the contours of the scalp, facial features, and bone structure is designed uniquely for the client. The full treatment program is completed over the course of 2 to 3 sessions with typically a 10 -14 day gap inbetween each session. During each appointment, the Scalp Micropigmentation artist meticulously tattoos realistic hair follicles, gradually building density. This approach is more comfortable for the client while permitting the artist to gauge healed results carefully so they can adjust technique and/or intensify as required or requested. Additionally, building density in more than one treatment lends itself to a more natural finished outcome. This gradual methodology helps clients who prefer to be more discreet. In addition, it promotes longevity of several years.
With our state-of-the-art equipment and pigments, the most natural look is created while the client rests comfortably as the artist works. Artists vary between 2 or 3 complementary hues of colour to create a genuine effect.
